2010 marks the 150th anniversary of the Open Championship, the world's oldest major. The first event was held in Prestwick in 1860 and saw Willie Park Senior beat an eight-man field by two shots after three rounds of 12 holes. Prestwick has since hosted The Open a further 23 times, 1925 being the most recent. St Andrews, host of the 2010 tournament, is the only course to have hosted the event more often than Prestwick, 2010 will be the 28th time the tournament will be played on the Old Course. The course was first used for The Open in 1873 and more recently hosted the 2005 championship which saw Tiger Woods claim his 2nd Open title and Jack Nicklaus play his final championship round.
